A World Of Green Helping Florida Cities To Go Green

On Feb. 20th 2009 Palm Coast was certified as a Green Local Government at the Silver Level by the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC). At the upcoming City Council meeting, April 7th, an FGBC representative will present the Silver Certification to Palm Coast.
Palm Coast City Council passed a resolution in May 2008 striving to become a certified FGBC Green Local Government. In July 2008, the City hired A World Of Green, LLC as green consultants to conduct a green assessment, assist with, and compile the FGBC submittal. Utilizing the services of A World Of Green, the assessment only took 4 months. This expedited Palm Coast’s submittal process. The City’s FGBC application was submitted, reviewed and certified in 19 days. A World Of Green is currently under contract with a city in Volusia County to perform similar services.
Colleen Byrnes, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for A World Of Green said, "We’ve discovered that many local governments want to be FGBC certified, but are short on time and staff. By employing our services, staff can concentrate on city business while we focus on the Green Local Government process. Accelerating the FGBC submittal process for them has many benefits for a city especially in this difficult economic climate. It enhances their green programs and our sustainability recommendations reduce operational costs."
Palm Coast’s city government has implemented cost cutting, environmentally sound practices in all city departments. The goal for 2009 is for the City to continue their sustainable efforts and seek FGBC Green Local Government Gold status.
